Kindergarten Expectations


First Nine Weeks
Your child will be expected to:
*Identify all capital and lowercase letters
*Identify high-frequency words
*Identify numbers 0-5
*Recgonize the six basic shapes (circle, square, triangle, rhombus, rectangle, oval)
*Create a pattern
*Recognize the eight basic colors (red, green, black, blue, purple, brown, yellow, orange)
*Identify first, middle, and last name, home address, telephone number, and birthday (month and day)

***Other basic skills checked are : cutting coordination, class particpation, organization, listening without interruption, following directions, working independently, getting along with others, paying attention, completing work, using crayons and pencils with control



Second Nine Weeks
Your child will be expected to:
*Identify all capital and lowercase letters
*Identify letter sounds ( M S A T C P N F )
*Identify high-frequency words
*Produce rhyming words (hot/not, pig/wig)
*Produce opposite words (up/down, in/out)
*Print letters (Mm, Ss, Aa, Tt, Cc, Pp, Nn, Ff,)
*Identify numbers 0-10
*Count objects to 10
*Print numbers 0-10

*Identify numbers 0-20
*Count objects to 20
*Print numbers 0-20
*Count orally to 50

*Decode CVC words
*Write short sentences
* Print first and las name (Brian Hart)
*Print letters-entire alphabet
*Identify numbers 0-31
*Count objects to 30
*Print numbers 0-31
*Count orally to 100
*Recgonize the six basic shapes (circle, square, triangle, rhombus, rectangle, oval)
*Create a pattern
*Tell time to the hour
*Identify coins: penny, nickel, dime, quarter
*Solve addition problems using objects
*Solve subtraction problems using objects
*Recognize the eight basic colors (red, green, black, blue, purple, brown, yellow, orange)
*Identify first, middle, and last name, home address, telephone number, and birthday (month and
day)
